Pillow Talk
Alice Brookes
An art installation and protest against femicide that took place on 13 November 2021 at Richmond Terrace, directly opposite Downing Street.
Pillow Talk, November 2021, opposite Downing Street, London
The protest displayed a line of pillowcases, each with the handsewn name and age of a women murdered by male violence in 2021. The line of pillowcases measured an overwhelming 90m in length. The impact of the sheer numbers of names (*118 and rising) was both shocking and saddening. Through the power of gathering, we also kept vigil to acknowledge with equal respect and recognition all women, not only those murdered by male violence.
